Alice Phang- Preschool Teacher

I was born and raised in Malaysia for the first four years of my life before immigrating to California with my family. I graduated from San Francisco State University in 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Adolescent Development (emphasis in early childhood) and a minor in Special Education. My interest in ECE began when I babysat my nephews, which drew me to their wonder and excitement for the world. I interned at the SFSU Reggio-inspired lab school and have worked as a reading tutor for elementary school children in underserved communities. I have also volunteered for the Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program as well as for Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired. In both of these programs, I helped take individuals with visual impairments to the farmer’s market and on hikes, and also assisted in making braille, tactile maps.

When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy reading, watching international films, spending time with my family, and exploring the city’s many cafes. I am fluent in Mandarin and am grateful to have retained my mother tongue. Early childhood is truly a magical time filled with exploration, discovery, growth, and a desire to learn that I am honored to be a part of.

Haley Sullivan - Preschool Teacher

I graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2020 with a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Homeland Security and a double minor in Political Science and Psychology. Although I did not major in Education, it has become my passion and career.  I am currently on track to further my education in Early Childhood Education and Development by going back to school part time.

As a San Francisco, (as well as Sunset!) native, I attended grammar school at St. Cecilia’s and attended High School at St. Ignatius College Preparatory. I started working with children in high school as a babysitter and a part-time nanny. Coming from a large family all local to the bay area, I am one of 28 grandkids on my paternal side, making me no stranger to large groups of kids. I started for a local family with two young kids at the age of sixteen until attending college. I have taught kids as young as the age of 5 to ride horses for the last 7 years and was also the Assistant Director for Sun Valley Equestrian Summer Camp located in Montara, California for two years during the summer breaks from college. Once graduating, I started as a part-time helper at City Sprouts Preschool and it wasn’t long before I realized that teaching would become her life’s passion and new career path.

I have been an equestrian rider since the age of 5 and was an avid competition rider up until college. Now I simply enjoy going down to the ranch and spending time with the horses and riding for pleasure. On weekends I enjoy hiking and getting out to the beach to walk my Doberman mix named Harley.
